Join us for this free community event
to gain a deeper understanding for building a welcoming and inclusive community.
Being a welcoming community is at the heart of much of the work done by Church groups, Social Service groups, Indigenous people, School District and the City of Dawson Creek. We live in a culture that promotes a need for protecting and isolating ourselves from those outside our circles. Building community starts with coming together to explore potential for a deeper understanding and building relationships. We can begin by asking ourselves:
Who qualifies as neighbor?
How do we welcome newcomers?
How do we honor the culture of others?
Can existing circles be more welcoming/inclusive?
Delmar Epp, Associate Professor of Psychology @ CMU will provide a presentation designed to support community inclusion from a social-psychological perspective. He will explore the origins of prejudice, the variation in people’s prejudicial attitudes and behaviors, and the potential to transform relations among people who differ.
All are welcome to attend this event!
