Why do we doubt that miracles happen? How come we do not see miracles when they happen? Why do we limit what we can do for God?
God did many miracles as written in the Bible.
God does miracles:
This last miracle was the beginning of God using us to do miracles. We are given the power through the Holy Spirit to work for the good of mankind and through the love of God.
Now, do we live our lives in that power or against it?
Galatians 3:5 NIV
5 Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard?
Paul’s question helps us gain perspective too. Were we saved by faith or by works of the law? If faith is so potent that it can provide eternal salvation, why not see what faith can do in our daily lives? 1
Matt 17:19-20 NIV
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
So, if we have faith and allow the Holy Spirit to work through us, nothing is impossible and miracles can happen – do we believe that?
Stephen did and was powerfully used by God and willingly died for his faith.
Acts 6:8 NIV
8 Now Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, did great wonders and miraculous signs among the people.
Stephen was the Christian Church’s first Martyr – Greek term for Witness. It was applied to those who testified to the reality and significance of their faith by suffering death rather than deny Jesus. 2
Wonders, Signs, and Miracles – these are words used in the Bible to describe the things that were done by the followers of God.
Acts 19:11-12 NIV
11 God did extraordinary miracles through Paul,
12 so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.
1 Corinthians 12:7-11 NIV
7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
8 To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,
9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,
10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b]
11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.
Hebrews 11:6
6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Luke 1:36-37
36 “Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month.
37 For nothing is impossible with God.”
Matthew 19:23-26
23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.
24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”
26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
There is no doubt that God did miracles and continuous to do miracles today.
God has given us the power and abilities to do great wonders, signs and miracles for Him. We need to ask God to use us and show us how to use His power. Without faith it is impossible but with faith, anything is possible!
