The Wonderful Names of Jesus! [Part 1]
Today the message is entitled “The Wonderful Names of Jesus!” We will be looking at two names each week for a few weeks. Today we look at “The Nazarene” and “The Carpenter”
The Best Use of Down Time [Part 1]
Today’s message is “Start your day with God” and includes why and how we need to rest and reenergize. Those with children at home have a hard time calling this down time or a rest. Having been a single parent with three children at home, I know that on my days off, I never had a lot of down time. I had to learn how to make time for me to rest and re-energize.
The God of all Comfort!
Today the message is entitled “The God of all Comfort!” As we celebrate Mother’s Day and the comfort that moms give to their spouses and their children, we are going to look at the comfort that God wants to give all of us.
Jesus Died Once!
Today the message is entitled “Jesus Died Once!” We are going to look at the reality of what Jesus did when He came to us in human form and lived the life you have all read about and seen over Christmas and Easter. Quite a story of how God arrived here and conquered sin and the death that results from sin.
Beyond The Fear
Today the message is entitled “Beyond the Fear!” The past few Sunday’s have shown us how much God loves us and that God came to walk amongst us to teach us how to live. Barb’s song reminds us that in the middle of all our fears, God promises to be with us. We can trust God to walk beside us “through it all.”
The Joy in Faith!
Today the message is entitled “The Joy in Faith!” Last week we looked at the effect of the empty Cross and empty Grave. The realization that we need faith to believe that Jesus Christ is alive, that He rose from the dead and He did that for us.
The Grave is Empty!
We are going to look at the empty cross and empty grave after Jesus’s death and consider what it means for us. The focus is that both the cross and the tomb are empty but mean nothing without a risen savior. Also, that our lives without Jesus are empty.
What was Jesus thinking?
This Sunday we read the story of Jesus coming into Jerusalem and the people are excited and cheerful. They were looking to Jesus for a new way of life, a life of freedom as a nation. We now call this event “Palm Sunday.” Jesus knew what was really coming and He still followed through.
Commitment – God’s Plan
Today the message is entitled “Commitment – God’s Plan!” When God put man on earth, He wanted to have a forever relationship that would see mankind walking and talking everyday with Him. A personal, loving, trusting commitment to each other developing over the years. That was God’s plan!
Have Faith in Jesus – He Calms the Storms!
I started this week with a totally different message and on Thursday, God gave me the thought of letting people know that in this tough, fearful time, God is still the same. Jesus came to this earth to teach us to trust Him, to have faith in Him. Jesus showed us that He is the one to run to in times of fear and panic. He calms the storms!
Tools for Discipleship?
Today the message is entitled “Tools for Discipleship!” We started this look at Discipleship three weeks ago when we discovered the “OIKOS Initiative”, going house to house sharing the Gospel message of Jesus. Two weeks ago, we looked at “Defining Discipleship,” finding out what the term meant and finding another term for it is “Follow-up.” Last week we looked at how we disciple someone in their walk of faith in God. Today we want to discover some tools for doing this work of discipleship.
Effective Discipleship?
Today the message is entitled “Effective Discipleship!” We started this look at Discipleship two weeks ago when we discovered the “OIKOS Initiative”, going house to house sharing the Gospel message of Jesus. Last week we looked at “Defining Discipleship,” finding out what the term meant and finding another term for it is “Follow-up.” Today we look at how we disciple someone in their walk of faith in God.
Define Discipleship
Today the message is entitled “Define Discipleship”. Last week we looked at the “oikos initiative” – the idea of putting the “Good News of the Gospel,” into every home in the world. That is what disciples of Christ do in their daily walk here on earth. Today, I am starting a look at Discipleship – what is it and why do we need to do it. Over the next few weeks we will discover how to be disciples in the world today.
The OIKOS Initiative!
Today the message is entitled “The OIKOS Initiative!” I got the title and idea from a letter from “Every Home for Christ” that came to my desk this month. It is about evangelism/discipleship and getting the Gospel message to every home. I think this is a great place to start on a series on discipleship. God has been giving me the nudge to share His desire for us to grow and become strong disciples for Him…
Better to Encourage Than be Discouraged!
Today the message is entitled “Better to Encourage Than be Discouraged”. It seems people find it easier the other way around, “be discouraged rather than to encourage”. God knows that and so He gives us examples of encouraging. The person we will be reading about is Barnabas. Why Barnabas?…
It is Appointed Unto Man
Today the message is entitled “It is Appointed Unto Man”. We finished our glance at the Bible book of Titus last week. After discovering how to live as Christians, and how to give leadership to a group of Christians, we found the command to be alive in our walk with Christ.
Divine Grace and Human Behavior
Today the message is entitled “Divine Grace and Human Behavior”. We have been looking at Paul’s letter to Titus this month. The last two weeks we discovered who Titus was, the characteristics of “Elders,” and the truths we are to teach each other. Today, we will consider the divine grace of Jesus Christ and the human behavior that Jesus’s grace gives us.
What to Teach
Today the message is entitled “What to Teach”. Last week we started out looking at the Bible book “Titus” and covered Chapter one, verses 1-9. We discussed who Titus was – an uncircumcised Greek Gentile converted by Paul and a close, trusted associate of Paul. He was a strong, assertive individual who troubleshooted for Paul in Gentile churches and unruly churches. We looked at the main thought of “proper understanding of the truth leads to godliness.” The characteristics of church leaders “the Elders” was reviewed.
Concerning Leadership
Today the message is entitled “Concerning Leadership”. We are starting a look at the Book of Titus to glean new insights into one of Paul’s letters – this one to Titus. In the “Introduction to Titus in The Holy Bible” – ESV we find this summation of the whole letter…
Christmas – The Tip of the Iceberg!
This is the final week of the theme “What Child is This?” Today the message is entitled “Christmas – The Tip of the Iceberg!” We are finishing a year of making each message end with some form of Gospel connection. It is both the end and just the beginning – there is still so much out of sight – just like an iceberg!
