Sit With Me Awhile!
A few weeks back, we read a scripture passage that started with Jesus sitting down and teaching those around Him. That was not the focus of the message but God stuck it in my mind and I had to go look into what was the significance of that thought. Today, I want to share with you what God has pointed out to me about “Sit with me awhile.” Jesus sat amongst the people and taught them. The people sat with Jesus and listened.
God’s Words are the Joy of My Heart!
Today my message is entitled “God’s Words are the Joy of My Heart!” We will look at one section of Psalm 119 to see the Psalmist’s thoughts on God’s Word. The theme I found is “God’s Word always stands true no matter what happens in life. Therefore, our hearts are filled with joy even when life seems to hard.”
Why Be Quiet?
Today my message is entitled “Why Be Quiet?” This past week, as I worked on this message, brought on a whole bunch of lessons for me from God. I have had to rethink several ways I have behaved and was made to look at why I should be quiet more often. As a Pastor and consultant, it is very easy to talk to much and not listen as well as I should. God has reminded me of the need to be quiet.
Who is the Greatest?
Today my message is entitled “Who is the Greatest?” I was rereading an article by Thom Rainer, CEO of Lifeway Christian Resources, titled “Nine Bible Texts That Ought to Challenge Leaders”. When God Doesn’t Make Sense!
Today my message is entitled “When God Doesn’t Make Sense!” When we are living for God and everything goes wrong, it doesn’t make sense. Why isn’t God blessing us? What are we to do? We will look at Scriptures that voice these questions and ones that give us God’s answers. The most important step is to trust God to show us His answers in His time.
The Shepherd Cares!
Today my message is entitled “The Shepherd Cares!” We celebrate Father’s Day today and what better way to celebrate than to hear from our Lord Jesus Christ about being a father, a shepherd and his sheep. The Scripture that was read earlier in this service, John 10: 1-18, was Jesus telling us what a shepherd does and names Himself as our Shepherd.
Take Time to Be Holy!
Today my message is entitled “Take Time to Be Holy!” One of you asked if we could sing Hymn #155 which has this same title. I looked at the words and realized that many of us sing songs but do not always read and heed the words. Today, I want to look at the words of this Hymn and God’s Word to better understand how and why we need to “Take Time to Be Holy!”
Are We A Community?
Today my message is entitled “Are We A Community?” Right after the service, we are holding our 5th Annual Neighborhood BBQ outside. We started this to let our neighborhood and community know this church is alive and active. Over the 5 years, the numbers that come have grown and this church is definitely known in the community now.
Be Strong and Courageous!
Today my message is entitled “Be Strong and Courageous!” I recently received a new donation card from the Gideons with a picture on the front of a Rhinoceros about to walk across a couple of planks spanning the gap between the tops of two tall buildings. The heading is my title for today, “Be Strong and Courageous.”
A Letter to the Church!
Today my message is entitled “A Letter to the Church!” I hope to present an idea for the church to consider. Not just this church family at First Baptist but the whole New Testament church of today. I asked God what He wanted me to share with you and this is the answer I received.
When You Thought I Was Not Looking!
Today my message is entitled “When You Thought I Was Not Looking!” You will notice it is the same title as the poem that Molly just read. She shared it with me last Sunday and I really liked the idea for Mother’s Day message. I will be looking at the idea of the mother looking at the child.
7 Days without prayer makes one weak!
Today my message is entitled “7 Days without prayer makes one weak!” As we grow to know God more, we find that praying becomes easier and deeper. Our relationship with God becomes more intense and fulfilling. Developing a language of prayer is very important in our walk here on earth.
Does God Really Care?
Today my message is entitled “Does God Really Care?” This past two weeks I have had many discussions with people who have asked this question. They are wondering with all that is happening in our world, does God really care. It appears to them that God has chosen to ignore the world and let it go on its way to destruction.

Blessed are those who study the Bible
Today my message is entitled “Blessed are those who study the Bible!” We are going to look at Psalm 1 this morning. This psalm, though written more than two thousand years ago, still brings us truth, and the compulsion to follow God’s way through life. Sometimes you must boil things down to simple ideas and basic truths in this world of complex technology and instant everything. That is what this psalm does.
